Sugar Land, TX, is located just southwest of Downtown Houston at the junction of 69 and 6. It can trace its history all the way back to the early 19th century when it was initially part of a Mexican land grant made to Stephen F. Austin in 1823. In 1908, it became the birthplace of the Imperial Sugar Company, which developed the town and built houses for its employees.

Based on the sugar production, the new “Sugar Land” was officially incorporated as a city in 1959 and has since grown into a prosperous, master-planned community.

Outdoor Enthusiasts Love Exploring Sugar Land

There are great parks featuring amazing hiking trails for nature enthusiasts in Sugar Land. What is striking about this area when we go there on a service call is the way that water plays such a big part in the communities and landscape of the area. The Venetian Estates were built to ensure that homes were adjacent to the lake in the area. You also have Cullinan Park nearby, which is 754 acres featuring woodlands, wetlands, lakes, and over four miles of scenic nature trails, including Oyster Creek Loop, a great spot for picnics, bird-watching, and relaxing walks. More adventurous explorers turn to Justin P. Brindley Trail, located at Sugar Land Memorial Park. This 3.6-mile gravel loop trail is perfect for hiking, mountain biking, and running. If you’re looking for the perfect selfie, you can visit Brazos River Park, which offers an easy trail along the Brazos River, providing a peaceful hiking experience with beautiful social media-worthy views.
