We are often called out to the neighborhood of Spring Branch West to help people with their air conditioning and heating needs. It’s located just north of 10, and the Sam Houston Tollway runs through it. It’s a combination of large homes and bungalows with nice yards and nice neighbors who are active in the area.
Just to the northwest of the area is the Addicks Reservoir area, which was created to control floods but is also used as a recreational area. This part of Houston was home to German immigrant dairy farms when it first was settled, but now it has a good mix of residential with light industrial businesses nearby.
In a relatively small area, there are plenty of retail stores and eateries. The Memorial City Mall and the Galleria are a couple of well-known shopping centers near the homes of Spring Branch West. The public and private schools are a part of the Spring Branch ISD, which has a longstanding reputation for being one of the best school systems for education and community involvement in Texas.
The “Schools to Trails Fall Fest” is held each October near Edgewood Elementary School, where families can welcome the cooler weather of fall on the local bike trails. The Marq’e Entertainment Center hosts a number of events throughout the year, including the “Summer’s End Fest” in September and other festivals that mark the changing seasons. The Sloomoo Institute is another local location that offers a unique experience that features a combination of science and fun.
Several parks in the area offer recreational activities or just a green getaway for a summer’s day. Agnes Moffitt Park has a public swimming pool and one of the nicer disc golf courses in the Houston area. Nob Hill Park is on Timberoak Road, with its trails and playground. The Carverdale Community Center offers fitness classes and community events for local residents of all ages. Haden Park is located just north of Longpoint and has plenty of paths and trees for a stroll or a picnic.
